Tickets, issuing.-In apparatus for issuing railway and like tickets singly from the bottom of a stack in a receptacle, a construction is provided whereby the insertion of used or spurious tickets into the stack and unauthorized access to the receptacle are prevented. The stacks of tickets 6 are contained in compartments 3 of the receptacle, and the bottom ticket is adapted to bc engaged for issue by a catch-piece 18 on a slide 13 mounted in dovetailed guides in fixed side plates 11 attached to a bottom plate 7. A stud 19 on the slide passes through a slot 8 in the bottom plate 7, the front end of the slot forming a stop for the slide. The bottom part of the front of the compartments is fitted with a plate 21 secured by bolts 22, the flat shanks of which are riveted to the plate. in the middle of each compartment the plate is formed with cut-out tongues which are rolled over to form bearings for the hinge-pin 31 of a flap 30, the tongue 29 between the cut-away portions being bent to serve as a stop for the flap. The flap is normally held closed by a plate spring 32 secured thereto and bearing against the plate 21. The flap opens when the ticket is pulled forward and closes as soon as the ticket passes it. The flaps and springs are protected by a front plate 38, detachably secured, together with recessed distance members 34, to the plate 21 by screws 33. The slides 13 are formed with pull handles 14 and are returned to the closed positions by springs 16. Preferably the receptacle has a drop front 39 hinged at 41 to the plate 21, and a hinged lid 42 with a fillet 43 and a lock 44.
