182,418. Brendle, J. June 25, 1921, [Convention date]. Addition to 167,766. Factory and like timerecorders, card type; driving type wheels from clock; time and cost, computing.-In a workmen's time-recorder of the card type as described in the parent Specification the mechanical means for controlling the engagement and disengagement of the ratchet mechanism operating the time type wheels is constituted by two levers and' an oscillatory member co-operating therewith and with the lever carrying the actuating-pawls of the type-wheels, The clock-driven actuating-wheel has two peripheries 6, 6<1> carrying a plurality of adjustable cams 8 which serve to operate the control levers 11, 11<1> respectively. The levers 11, 11<1> are mounted on a shaft 10 and longitudinally movable thereon against the action of a spring 62<1>, the movement being effected by a, member 58 bearing a cam on one face so as to bring the levers into the path of a group of cams depending on the day of the week. The lever 11 is controlled by a spring 9 and carries a spring and pin contiolled pawl 76 adapted to engage teeth on an oscillatory member 14 which is held in one or other of its set positions by a retaining-pawl 70. The member 14 is provided with an arm 16<1> having a pin 16 adapted on the rocking of the lever 11 by a cam 8, i.e. during an interval in the working time, to engage the lower arm of the lever 17 carrying the staggered pawls 17<1> to hold the latter inoperative with respect to the ratchet gears 22-24 of the time type wheels. The lever 17 is pivoted at 28 to a forked member 29 adapted to be rocked at intervals of six minutes to actuate the wheels 22-24 when the pawls 17 are in operative position. The member 14 is returned to normal position by means of a spring attached to the end 65 of the lever 65, 66 integral with the member 14 when the retaining pawl 70 is freed from the teeth by the return movement of the lever 11<1> which is provided with a spring and pin controlled tappet 73, adapted on said movement to engage a pin 72 on the pawl 70. A pin 68 on the lever 17 limits the movement of the arm 66 and thereby the member 14. Tc record overtime after the expiration of the normal daily working time a cam at a lesser distance from the axis 5 restricts the movement of the lever 11 so that only the pawl associated with the hundreds of units type-wheel is inoperative. A special symbol to distinguish overtime is provided which is mounted on a disc 40 positively connected to the member 14 by a slotted arm 41.
