Abstract

Rotary prism and like apparatus.--An indicating-device particularly adapted for race-course signalling, consists of a wedge-shaped structure having two display faces D, D<1>, the structure being carried by side rods C pivotally mounted on brackets B and counterweighted at N, so that the device can be swung into one or other of two definite positions in which either the face D or the face D<1> is displayed through an opening A<1> in the surrounding frame A. The position of the display-faces is controlled by a solenoid adjustably carried on guide-rods E<1> attached to a bracket E mounted in the centre of the wedgeshaped frame The solenoid has preferably two windings G, G<1>. Fig. 3, and contains a solid heavy core H. As one or other of the two windings is energized by means of a switch L, the core H moves to the corresponding end of the solenoid, and its weight swings the wedgeshaped frame upwards or downwards to display the desired signal through the opening A'.
