Abstract

181,208. McLachlan, N. W. April 30, 1921. Vacuum apparatus, arrangements of. - Highvoltage electric impulses are obtained from a source of direct current D by connecting it in series with a large inductance Q in the anode circuit of a thermionic valve V. the grid of which is made alternately positive and negative. In the arrangement shown, the middle grid is connected tu the switch member Y which alternately engages contacts X, Z connected to the negative and positive terminals of a pair of direct-current dynamos D<1>, D<2>. When the grid is positive, current flows through the valve and inductance Q. When the grid is negative the energy stored in the inductance is discharged across a spark-gap, R÷ntgen-ray tube or other device S. Specification 147,814 is referred to.
