Multiple-indication apparatus.-An indicating dial for use on altimeters, air speed indicators &c., comprises a circular scale of the primary quality say isothermal height and a correcting scale consisting of curves plotted to modify the reading of height according to say temperature at height. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the dial bears the primary scale a of heights and a series of curves c plotted in accordance with the effects of temperature. A ring d having a radius corresponding with the observed temperatures is superposed and gives by intersection with the pointer b the particular curve and therefore the correct height to be read. In a modification, Fig. 2, the outer scale is omitted and the ring d is represented by an iris diaphragm adjustable manually by a knob f or automatically by a bimetallic strip g. In a similar construction For air speed indicators, the diaphragm is adjusted by connection with a battery of density-responsive capsules.
