Abstract

179,808. Taylor, J. H., and Howie, W. C. J. April 29,1921. Supports.-In a support for cycles, sidecars, &c. of the type comprising a strut pivoted to a bracket &c. on the rear side stay, fork, or other part and adapted to be automatically locked in the operative or inoperative position, the strut is acted upon by a spring tending to maintain it in an intermediate position. The strut 10, Figs. 1 and 3, is. carried by aT-piece 9 pivoted on a spindle 8, which is mounted between two cheeks 1, 1<a> of a bracket clamped to the frame tube 7 and is surrounded by a spring 24 adapted to urge the strut 10 to an intermediate or horizontal position when the strut is unlocked from either its operative or inoperative position. The locking- means comprise a spring-pressed sliding pawl 19, the bent end 19<a> of which is adapted to engage one of several notches or teeth 17, 18 on the periphery of a disc 16 forming part of the T- piece 9, according to the position of the strut 10. The strut 10 may be formed of telescopic tubes adapted to be fixed after relative adjustment by means of a clamping-ring 13.
