Abstract

178,719. Jensen, W. E. April 21, 1921. Batch-mixers with circulating devices; stirrers; driving-mechanism. - A mixing-device adapted particularly for mixing beverages and to be arranged in a container, comprises a series of ,radially-disposed fixed baffles, and a rotary exciter arranged below the baffles. As shown, the device comprises a post 1, Fig. 1, and standard, 2 supporting an electric motor 6 having a shaft 7 with a clutch member 15 adapted to engage a clutch member 14 on a shaft 12. The shaft 12 passes freely through the cross-members 9, 10, Fig. 4, of the spiral baffles which contact with the inside of the container and at its lowerend carries an exciter E consisting of radial arms 17 of V-cross section, the apex of the V being directed away from the direction of rotation of the exciter. In use, the motor shaft 7 is clutched with the exciter shaft 12 so as to rotate the exciter, the beverage being directed in spiral currents within the container by the baffles.
