Abstract

178,447. Pateras Pescara, Raul, Marquis of. April 12, 1921, [Convention date]. Helicopters; cars; propelling; l a n d wheels and skids.- A helicopter has its car placed between upper and lower sixbladed propellers 10, 11, which are driven in opposite directions about the same axis through the bevel gear shown and a clutch 18, and is provided with a landing chassis 30 connected to the lower propeller hub by ball bearings and prevented from rotating therewith by connections to the gear casing. The car has a frame 19 rigid with the envelope; it contains the control gear, seats &c., and carries a radiator 22 in front. The landing-carriage 30 is connected to a tube passing through the propeller hub and connected to the gear casing by a bar passing between the gear wheels. The carriage 30 carries two wheels 26, and terminates in two tail skids 30<a>, the wheels and skids being enclosed in casings 31.
