Abstract

176,704. Achart, M. April 27, 1921. Heels; stiffeners.-Relates to supporting stays for high-heeled shoes of the type in whch a bent metal stay is applied to the heel breast and arch of the sole of the finished shoe, and consists in the provision of points, claws, hooks, or the like on the metal stay adapted to be forced into the adjacent parts of the shoe. As shown, the stay comprises a bent channel member having a slot 32 to accommodate a securing-screw engaging the heel breast, and holes 5 for screws engaging the arch of the sole. Bevelled points 23 approach or recede from each other as they are forced into the sole. Claws 27 are inserted into holes previously made at the junction of the heel breast and the sole. Teeth 24, 28, 30, 31 grip the adjacent parts of the shoe as the stay is attached.
