Mechanical constructions, details for building up.-A constructional toy consists of elements formed of metal strips bent to form girders of T or angle shape, and clamps or shoes of sheet metal with turned-over edges for connecting the ends of such girders together, the girder elements being so made that the flanges spring a little, thus enabling them to be fitted beween the turned-over edge of the clamps or shoes. The element C, Fig. 3, consists of a strip of metal bent, as shown, to form a girder with flanges 10 and a double web 9 with a space 2 between. Thus the flanges can be sprung in between the turnedover edges 19, Fig. 8, of a clamp or shoe 17, where they are retained by friction. The girders can be of various sections, such as the channel section, D Fig. 4. The shoes may also consist of straight strips, or may have a number of arms, or a second arm 21, Fig. 8, may be pivoted to the main shoe 17. The arms of the shoe may be bent at various angles to one another, and the girders may be notched so that they can be bent. Fig. 9 shows a bedstead constructed from the elements.
