Abstract

175,846. Hill, J. Dec. 24, 1920. Gas meters.-In a dry gas meter the enclosing casing or the gas chamber within which is disposed the diaphragm measuring-chambers is provided with an external temperature chamber which insulates the walls of the gas-container from effects due to atmospheric changes. The enclosing casing l of the gas meter is provided with a gas chamber a having at its upper end an horizontal ledge d upon which is soldered the base-plate e<2> of the valve-box e, and the measuring-chambers f, g are arranged to hang rigidly from this base-plate. The gas to be measured enters the chamber a direct through a pipe x and passes to the valve-box e from which it is admitted to the measuring-chambers f, g. The gas passes out of the meter through the valve-box, so that the external casing above the valve-plate need not be gas-tight. The space m formed between the chamber a and the casing l constitutes the temperature chamber and is filled with felt or like insulating material.
