Abstract

175,507. Prokop, J. Jan. 13, 1921. Hulling, husking, scouring, and polishing.-Grain &c. is husked, polished, or similarly treated by an abrading cylinder 2 upon the surface of which the grain &c. rests in a chamber 4. The material is carried upwards by the cylinder 2 and is intercepted by the covered end 5 of the chamber 4 or by a small roller rotating in the same direction as the cylinder 2. The material circulates as indicated by the arrows and so comes repeatedly into contact with the cylinder 2. A small abrading-cylinder may also be provided within the layer of grain &c. The machine may work continuouslv or with intermittent charges, and the bottom 7 of the chamber is hinged for the discharge of any residue.
