Abstract

175,194. Williams, S. E. Feb. 19,1921. Rope grips.-Comprises a screw-actuated grip in which loose jaws 3 slide within a box 1, the jaws having external sloping or wedge faces 5 engaging corresponding surfaces 2 in the mouth of the box, so that as the jaws are drawn into the box by the screw 7 they are forced together and grip the rope. The screw engages the jaws loosely, either by means of a head 8, Fig. 3, or by a pin joint 8<a>, Fig. 7. The grip may be inverted for over-rope haulage.
