Abstract

174,329. Techn - Projeotierungs-und Baub³ro-Ges. J. Pfletschinger & Komp., and Lõufer, A. Jan. 18, 1921, [Convention date]. Weirs ; sluicegates.-To prevent damage to the bed of a stream below a weir d, Fig. 1, a plate or apron a is arranged below the weir with a suction channel b between its upstream edge and the brickwork of the weir. The stream flowing over the apron a induces a flow through the channel b and a back-current towards the weir in the space e which causes broken stone and ballast brought down by the stream to be deposited in the space e. The apron a may be flat or curved, and either fixed or hinged, in which case it may float freely, or may be adjusted in position. Fig. 4 shows the device applied to a sluice g.
