Abstract
173,901. Aird, K., and Wortley, G. W. Oct. 15, 1920. Atmospheric gas burners.-An injector for an atmospheric gas burner comprises an adjustable rod or pin 1, Fig. 1, formed from pinion rods or any similar rolled or drawn section with either longitudinal or spiral flutes, in conjunction with a body 7 having an internallv tapered outlet 8 and a gas inlet 9, the end of the rod, which may also be tapered, working in this outlet. In some cases the tapering may be continued until the fluting is eliminated and portions 2, 3 of the rod are kept at full diameter to locate the rod, while the end of the rod 5 is screw-threaded for adjusting purposes. In a modification shown in Fig. 5, a pressure damper is interposed in the body 7, the damper comprising an annular movable sleeve 12 provided with holes 13 co-operating with the gas inlet. In a further modification for dealing with large volumes of gas, the body 7, Fig. 0, is formed with a tapered opening 6 and a parallel pin 1 is employed located by a boss 18 cast internally with the bodv. In large injectors a longitudinal hole is bored through the centre of the pin to provide a supply of air.
