Abstract

172,837. Powell, L. S. Oct. 30, 1920. Rotary sieves.-Relates to cinder-sifters of the type in which a sifting-drum is rotatably mounted in a casing fitted with drawers to receive the dust and the sifted cinders. Two solid-bottomed drawers 10, 11 are provided, to receive respectively the dust and the cinders, and a shrouding device, for example, a roller blind 12, is provided to prevent rising of dust when the drawer 10 is opened. The sheet material 6 forming the sieve is shaped in section as shown in Fig. 3 with one end 9 extending radially inwards leaving a charging-opening 8 which serves also for discharging cinders when the direction of rotation is reversed.
