Cooking-ranges. - In a range having the oven g above the space in which cooking-utensils are placed, a boiler b is fitted at one or both sides of the grate, and flues f are arranged at the back of the range to convey the products of combustion, either directly or after heating the boiler or boilers, to the oven casing. The grate bottom may be fixed as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, or pivoted at the front and counterbalanced as shown in Fig. 4, and in the latter case, a rack may be provided to lock the grate in any desired position. When there is a boiler at one side only of the grate, a hot closet may be provided at the other side. Baffles may be provided above and below the boilers to cause the hot gases to pass round the front end of the boiler before. passing to the flue. Dampers are fitted in the flues to permit the heating effect to be regulated.
