168,656. Heaton, P. June 4, 1920. Running-stitch machines. -Two pairs of wheels a', a<2>, with teeth in staggered relationship, pleat the fabric and press it on to a pair of needles f. The needles, being for the purpose carried by a slide i, are then pressed forward by means of a hand-lever l, and, on the return of the slide, are withdrawn with the fabric from the machine. The needles are then passed through holes q<1> and fastened in a slidable clamp n and, by means of a handle r, are pulled right through the holes q<1> to strip the fabric from them. The upper wheel a<2> is mounted in a pivoted arm e and the wheels may be driven by a hand-wheel on the spindle, of either wheel or on an additional spindle b<3>.
