Stationary batch-mixers with reciprocating stirrers.-A dipping-tank for carrying out the coating or treating by dipping, described in Specification 105,138, is provided with a rising and falling foraminous plate 10 having movable slots or louvers 14 so that the plate rises or comes to rest as an imperforate plate and falls as a foraminous plate. The slats 14 are freely pivoted, and their movements are limited by stops 15, 16. The plate is operated by bands or ropes 8 passing over guide-wheels 9 to crank-pins 4, 5 driven by worm-gearing 2, 3 from a driving-shaft 1. Slides are provided inside the tank to guide the plate.
