Abstract

168,094. Pillman, A. April 14, 1920. Washers.-A washer for use in the fixing of corrugated iron roofing comprises a dished metal plate 1 which acts as a container for a packing 5 of lead, asbestos or other soft material such as a composition of asbestos, ground cork and adhesive. The asbestos &c. is treated on one or both sides with a bituminous paint, dextrin or other suitable substance. The hole in the packing may be of greater or less size than the bolt or screw, or may be formed by slitting the centre. The washer 1 may be curved to suit the corrugations and the rim of the flange on the washer may be turned inwards to retain the packing.
