Abstract

167,703. Farquharson, W. T. Oct. 9, 1920. Laminar springs.-In laminar or leaf springs for use in the suspension of vehicles and comprising leaves united at one end only, as in quarter-elliptic springe, or at a position between the ends, as in semielliptic springs, wavy or corrugated members are interposed between the usual leaves 3 to reduce friction. Each corrugated member may consist of a single length of material 4, Fig. 1, or may be built up of a number of spring elements 9, Fig. 2, secured by pins &c. 8 to a backing strip. The leaves are united by a bolt 5 and held in proper position by a shackle 6 in the usual way. and at the bolt 5 the corrugations may be filled in or an insert or block may be provided to form a solid connection.
