Supports or stands for motorcycles &c., of the kind adapted to be locked in operative position with the road wheel raised from the ground, have the lock D pivotally mounted upon a clip 2 upon the cycle frame, means provided for holding the locking-bolt 8, 9 raised after it has been lifted by a key, and the clip A on the stand fitted with an adjustable part 16 carrying lugs 17 for the connection of the jointed locking-rods C, C<1>. The back of the lock has an undercut keyhole slot which is first engaged horizontally with an elongated-headed stud on the clip part 2; the lock is then turned to hang vertically from the stud. The jointed rod C is perforated at 21 to receive the bolt 8, 9, which can be raised by the introduction of a key into the lock, and when the bolt has been thus raised. it is retained by a spring catch 12; the key can then be withdrawn before the stand is moved into inoperative position. The spring catch is normally held back by the inner flat side of the rod C<1>, but adjacent to the perforation 21 the rod is slightly recessed on its side faces to allow the catch to come into operation. The rod C<1> is swivelly connected by a ring 20 to a socket 19 which is pin-jointed to the other rod C. At its front end this rod C is jointed to lugs 17, Fig. 4, on a ribbed space 16, which is laterally adjustable between a lower clip portion 15 and a plate 18. To prevent unauthorized withdrawal of the screws securing the clip A to the stand and the clip 2 to the cycle frame, the head of each screw is formed in two parts 23, 24, as shown at the right-hand side of Fig. 4, and after the screw has been screwed up completely the upper part is cut off, leaving the lower part within a recess so that it cannot be turned by a tool, as shown at the left-hand side of Fig. 4.
