Machine guns; ordnance, mechanical; registering number of discharges.-The gun comprises a rotary barrel 11, Fig. 1, geared to a motor-driven shaft 7, which drives a conveyer mechanism 17 for delivering the bullets from a hopper 14 through a flexible tube 15 and passage 35, Fig. 10, to a central block 39 revolving with the barrel, the block having connected inlet and outlet channels 40, 42 through which the passage of a bullet is timed by an adjustable ring 41. The ring, which is adjusted by a worm-gear 37 from a handwheel 54, has a cam 45 for forcing the bullet from the channel 40 to the channel 42 and a cutaway part to release the bullet to the barrel at the desired point in the revolution. Fig. 5 shows a screw conveyer 17 for delivering bullets from the hopper 14 to the tube 15 the screw being rotated from the shaft 7 by spur gear 25, 24 and friction gear 21, 22, Fig. 1. The feed is varied by moving the friction wheel 22 radially over the wheel 21, or the feed may be stopped by sliding the wheel 21 away from the wheel 22 by operating a handle 28. Fig. 9 shows a counter 29 arranged between the tube 15 and the passage 35 leading to the gun. The bullets in passing over a star wheel 34 actuate a spring-controlled cam lever 30 connected to the counter mechanism. The barrel is rotated within a casing or shield 12, 13 having an opening 55 for the bullets, the casing being adjustable round the axis of rotation by gear 56, 57 operated by a handwheel 58. Bullets expelled from the barrel within the casing are deflected into a groove 59. The gun is elevated for range by turning the casing 3 on the shaft 7 by worm-gear 4, 5 operated from a hand-wheel 6.
