Abstract
165,719. Rayner, G. H. T., and Rayner, P. Feb. 8, 1921. Fluid-actuated gears.-In a percussive tool, the fluid supply to the cylinder ends is controlled by the central head of a valve s with three equal heads, and the exhaust is controlled by the piston passing ports c, d. To throw the valve, its ends are alternately put to pressure and exhaust by ports g, h controlled by the piston. The valve is locked in its end positions by reduced pressure produced by fluid alternately fed through ports q, r in the end valve-heads to the end chambers which are constantly open to exhaust through ports t, u, and intermittently through ports g, h. In a modification, the supply for locking the valve is fed through ports in the casing controlled by the valve, and discharged through ports g, h, c, d connected by a groove in the piston; and the ports t, u are dispensed with.
