Abstract

138,556. Rayner, G. H. T., and Rayner, P. July 28, 1919. Fluid-actuated gears.-The valve is provided with an enlarged central head a, which controls the admission and upon which the fluid-pressure acts to lock the valve, and with ends b, b<1> which control the exhaust through annular ports g<2>, h<2>. The ends of the valve chambers communicate with the cylinder by ports g, g<1>, h, h'. When the piston during its motion to the left uncovers the port g, fluid-pressure acts upon the head b, and this together with the compression in the right-hand end of the cylinder acting on the annular collar a throws the valve. In a modification, the shape of the valve is modified and additional ports provided, to provide a supplementary exhaust from each end of the cylinder.
