Endless-band conveyers, articles carried by. - An apparatus f o r finishing hosiery by successively steaming, drying, and cooling the goods consists of a tunnel 1 through which an endless - band conveyer 5 carries the goods. The tunnel 1 is made of panels 2, each consisting of double walls of fibro-cement between which is packed mineral wool or the like. The stockings &c. are stretched on blocks which are placed in dozens in racks 4 on the chain 5, and are carried forward from the loading-position a to the position b, where one of the partitions 6 closes the entrance to the tunnel. In the positions b, c no treatment is effected; in the position d the goods are moistened by steam from a vaporizer 9 regulated by a cock 8, and in positions e-k they are dried at a high temperature which is maintained by steam - heated ribbed radiators 3. Afterwards they pass through the neutral chamber l to the position m, where they are cooled by air blown through a number of nozzles of variable inclination. The upper panels of the apparatus form a table for the operator's use. Heated plates 13, 15 above the positions b, c, d, l prevent condensation.
