Cages for oil presses comprise a ring or superposed rings 2 having vertical holes 4 from face to face connected to the space 3 for the cakes by slots 5, the rings being held with the slots or holes in alignment by a tightly-fitting sleeve 1. Preferably the holes 4 are broached towards the space 3, and the ring surface at each hole is swaged or rolled down as shown at Fig. 4.
