163,238. Mulliners, Ltd., Ashby, F. W., and Moore, H. W. Aug. 18, 1920. Hoods. - In hoods for motor vehicles &c., the hood fabric is secured to the hoop-sticks by lacing. For attaching the material to the front hoop stick, a broad strip of fabric 2, Fig. 3, is secured at its middle to the front edge of the hood 1. The edges of the strip are provided with eyelets 3 or lacing hooks, and the strip is secured around the stick 4 by a lace or cord S. The supporting webbing 6 is secured around the stick before the strip is laced. The joint between the strip and the hood may have a covering strip 12, and the ends of the bar may be twisted around the hood strap bolts 14. For attachment to the back hoop stick 8, Fig. 7, the strip 2 is sewn at its middle to the upper edge of the back 7 and to the back edge of the top .1 of the hood. The webbing 6 is sewn to a fabric sleeve cemented on the stick 8, while the strip 2 is cut at the sides of the webbing and turned back. The webbing is also sewn to sleeves cemented or laced around the intermediate hoop sticks, to which the hood may also be laced.
