Abstract

162,596. Igranic Electric Co., Ltd., (Cutler-Hammer Manufacturing Co.). Oct. 12, 1920. Electric braking; systems for alternating- current motors only.-Motor controllers for alternating-current motors are designed to reverse the connections of two out of three phases in order to change from the running to the braking condition, and to interrupt the braking connections automatically in order to prevent the motor from restarting in the opposite direction. The change over is effected by a double-pole switch 1 released by an electromagnet 1a when a stop-button 3 is momentarily depressed. When the motor has come to rest, current in a relay coil 5a falls to zero and opens the circuit of an electromagnet 2a, which releases a double-pole switch 2, so disconnecting the switch 1 and with it the motor M from the mains L<1>, L<2>, L<3>.
