Abstract

162,571. Watkins, T. June 11, 1920. Slabs, special shapes of.-Slabs are interlocked by means of tongues b and grooves c which taper longitudinally and are undercut, preferably dovetailed, in section. They may be fitted together by sliding the tongues down the grooves or by lateral movement if the grooves are wide. Cavities d round the tongues are grouted with cement. Some slabs may have tongues and others grooves at each end. A bottom portion e may project at the front and a top portion f at the rear to break the bed joints. Reinforcements such as g may be added, and skirting and dado boards may be nailed to wooden blocks h. Window and door sills and also blocks o lining the opening interlock in a similar manner with the wall slabs. Cavity walls may be formed as shown in Fig. 10. The slabs may be finished on one or both faces with tiles before erection, and for bay windows the tongues and grooves are arranged at suitable angles.
