162,076. Dick, R. H., and Wolters, C. F. Jan. 21, 1920. Safes.-Relates to safes moulded in one piece from a heat-insulating composition and enclosed after moulding in a metallic casing. According to the invention, the moulded block is heated to a suitable temperature in order to drive off free water and leave only water in chemical combination before placing it in the casing. The heat-insulating composition 15, which may consist of a mixture of gypsum and sawdust, may be strengthened by mesh wire 16 placed in the mould. After casting and drying, it is placed in the casing 11 and the back wall 12 is afterwards added and secured by welding or otherwise. Inner walls or linings may be put in, or the casting may be grooved to receive shelves and its surface painted.
