Presses, wine and cider.-Two bottomless cylindrical baskets 13, 14 composed of staves 16 separated by wedge-shaped grooves 23 rest on grooved tables 25, 26 carried on arms 27 which are pivoted at 30 and which also revolve about the standard 2 on a spring-supported bearing 31, so that the baskets rest alternately beneath the filling-hopper 24 and the plunger 12. The baskets are retained in place by a second pair of spring-supported revolving arms 44, and a catch 39 is used to lock the basket and table in position beneath the, plunger. During pressing the tables are forced down on to the base 5, which is surrounded bv a channel 6 to collect the expressed juice. The fruit is charged in suitable filter bags, and the baskets are alternately filled and pressed until full of pulp. To facilitate emptying, the baskets are made in two halves hinged together at 17 and secured by a cam locking-device 20.
