Abstract

161,717. Stirzaker, H. Jan. 21, 1920. Fittings to indicate bottles containing poisons and non- potable substances.-Relates to means for preventing the stoppers of poison and like bottles from being removed without warning to the user. A guard 1, covering the stopper on the top and on three sides, is pivoted on a pin 2 in a lug 3 cast integrally with the bottle. The guard is constrained by a spring (not shown) normally to assume the protective position. In a modification, the guard is pivoted to a spring clip 7, Fig. 3, the arms of which are provided with rubber &c.. either in the form of a tube C or a lining B. In another modification, Fig. 5, an integral lug 8 is pierced to accommodate a pin 10, which is also passed through extensions on the guard 9 and is padlocked. The front of the arms 7 of the form shown in Fig. 3 may be extended and pierced to replace the lug 8. The device may be made of non-corrosive materials, and may be conspicuously coloured or lettered with luminous paint. According to the Provisional Specification, the guard may be constructed of wire, strip metal, &c., it may be adapted to prevent rotation of the stopper, its hinges may be diametrically arranged on the neck of the bottle, and it may be acted on by weights instead of a spring.
