Abstract

161,233. Gr³nfeld, B. Dec. 5, 1919. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Leaf-turners.-In a leaf-turner of the type in which a spring-controlled lever arm of adjustable length is provided at its free end with a magnet adapted to adhere to a magnetic clip secured to the leaf, and is operated by a pedal, the lever arm comprises three arms g, k, o adjustable relatively to each other by screw and slot connections, the arm g being mounted on an inclined spindle f so that the magnet on the arm o moves in a plane slightly inclined to the horizontal. The spindle f, Fig. 2, is mounted in lugs u in a frame adjustably mounted in a plate w by means of screws adapted to slide in curved slots y in the plate w so that the inclination of the spindle f may be adjusted. The spindle, is rotated by a cord 11 secured to, and wound round, a pulley z mounted thereon, the cord 11 passing round a pulley 12 on the frame to a pedal 11<a> or other operating means. Spring clips or buffers 15 are mounted on the frame at each end of the travel of the arm g to reduce jarring &c. The clip r, Fig. 5, on the leaf comprises a strip 17 of magnetic material and a strip 18 of non-magnetic material secured by a rivet 19.
