Universal joints.-In flexible shaft couplings or universal joints of the kind in which the resistance increases with the load, flexible rods 9, which are connected at their ends by loops 10 to form a continuous grid, engage flared recesses 5, 6 in coupling-heads 3, 4, so that their effective flexible length decreases with increase of load. A casing 11 may retain lubricant.
