Abstract

159,581. Potter, F. J. Nov. 27, 1919. Paper-fasteners. - A paper-fastener, formed from sheet-metal or wire, and constructed to permit of the ready removal of papers without disarranging the remainder of the file, comprise two parts, each having a head and a tongue extending therefrom, and one part, or each, having said head apertured or formed to receive the tongue of the fellow part. As shown in Fig. 3, each part is formed from a sheet-metal blank by bending the tongue 10 and passing it through the aperture 12 in the head 11. In assembling the fastener, each tongue 10 is passed through the papers and through the aperture 12 in the other head 11 and then bent down to lie along the head. In a modification, one part has a long tongue, and the other a short tongue which does not extend entirely through the thickest file to be handed. In this case, only the longer of the two tongues is bent down to secure the parts. When made of wire, the base of the tongue portion is bent into an apertured loop at right-angles to the tongue.
