Abstract

Tar is removed from the products of distillation of wood, coal, &c. by passing the products while in a state of vapour through cresol, instead of treating the condensed products as described in the parent Specification. The vapours are first bubbled through tar and then, at a temperature of 115-130 DEG C., are bubbled through cresol. The tar is separated from the cresol by distillation.
