Electrodes; moving; electrolytes, agitating.-In copper-plating the interior of on insulator, such for instance as is used in electric traction, the insulator forms the only receptacle for the electrolyte, which is kept in continual agitation therein. To maintain the concentration of the liquid, there is used a soluble anode which is rotated, or rotated and reciprocated. As shown, the anode c, protected near the surface of the liquid by an insoluble sheath f, is adjustably supported in a sleeve g by a collar l. The sleeve g revolves in a bracket i and is driven by a pulley h. A number of such brackets i may be attached to two beams m, between which is a shaft driving all the pulleys h; the pairs of eleetrodes are in series. The anodes c may be of spiral or cross form, or may have inward bends, or be provided with leaden or other insoluble wings, to promote agitation.
