Abstract
158,870. Moore, R. A. Feb. 4, 1920, [Convention date]. Stud-and-eye fastenings.-A fastener specially applicable for vehicle curtains comprises a relatively fixed base part and a rotary head, resilient friction means being provided between the base and head to retain the head in position. Fig. 3 shows a fastener for connecting adjacent edges of curtains, and comprising a circular base 2 fixed to the curtain 4 by prongs 3 and a stiffening-plate 5 and having an oval boss 1 drilled and grooved in its face to receive springs 6 adapted to bear frictionally against the base of an oval head or button 7. This button is fixed on a stem 8 extending through the base and curtain and also through another head 9, by which the stem and head 7 may be turned from the other side of the curtain. In Fig. 5, the boss 1<a> on the base is reduced and the stem 8<a> carries spring arms 6a in the form of a cross bearing on the bottom of the base. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the fastener is arranged for fixing to the framework by a screw 10 and nut, or a wood-screw, fixed in the base 1<a>, and the oval head 7 turns on a stem 8<1> integral with the base, between which and the head springs are arranged as before. In all cases, the base of the head may be grooved for retention by the springs in certain positions.
