Description

(54) REPLICA WILD BIRD EGGS (KIT) (71) I, HENRY BINKS (British) 20 Ettrick Grove, High Barnes, Sunderland, Tyne/Wear, do hereby declare the invention, for which I pray that a patent may be granted to me, and the method by which it is to be performed, to be particularly described in and by the follownig statement: Using a conventional injection moulding or vacuum forming process a two part mould in plastic is made from the dimensions of an actual wild bird egg.
Fig. 1.
One half of the mould (b) is filled with a plaster of paris (water) mixture (c) this mixture being coloured with a stainer solution to match the basic shell colouring of the wild bird egg.
Fig. 2.
The two halves of the mould (a) and (b) are then joined together immediately after adding the plaster of paris mixture (c) and turned in all directions fairly vigourously for about twenty-five minutes.
Fig. 3.
The two-part mould (a) and (b) is then parted and the replica egg (d) removed and left to dry out.
Fig. 4.
The mould seam (e) is then removed using an abrasive action using a nail file or sandpaper.
Fig. 5.
The replica egg (d) is then decorated with the appropriate markings using inks, dyes, varnish and water.
WHAT I CLAIM IS: 1. A method of making a hollow replica wild bird's egg by producing a two-part mould by moulding plastic material about the form of a wild bird's egg, then casting plaster of paris in the two-part mould to provide a replica of the egg and decorating the casting with appropriate markings.
2. A method as in claim 1, in which the mould is produced by injection moulding or vacuum forming process.
3. A method as in claim 1, in which before decorating the egg a mould seam formed on the egg during casting is removed by abrasive action.
4. A method as in claim 1, in which colour or colours are added to the water prior to mixing with the plaster of paris.
