Pistons; compound forms. - A weldable metal article B is joined to one A of a metal not easily welded by mechanically connecting to the latter an element, such as a ring C, Figs. 1 and 5, rivet D, Fig. 3, or plug D, Fig. 5, of weldable metal and then joining the parts B and C or D by welding-metal E which may be poured in. One of the articles, for instance the insulating- cover B, Fig. 5, of an internal-combustion piston A may be undulating or otherwise formed to expand easily. In another modification, the undulating plate B is connected to the piston at points in contact therewith.
