Files and rasps.-A tool for sharpening the rotary cutters of pencil-pointing machines comprises a cylindrical shank 10 with a taper 11, corresponding in size to the point given to a pencil, at one end. The periphery of the tapered portion is formed as a file, preferably by means of a fine screw-thread cut therein, and is then hardened sufficiently to grind the metal of the cutters. A handle 13 is provided to hold the sharpener stationary when the cutters are revolved against it.
