[Class 60] [Also in Group XXII] An apparatus for grinding rotary cutting tools, particularly single-lipped drills of half-round section, is provided with a cam member 4 interchangeably mounted on a tool-holder 6 and having two cam surfaces arranged to cooperate with a guide pin 5 selectively located in one of two seats 1<SP>11</SP> provided on a stationary cylinder element 1 in which the tool-holder 6 is slidably lodged. By this arrangement, axial movements are imparted to the tool when the toolholder is turned so that, in grinding with the pin in position to co-operate with one cam surface, the form of the front face 7<SP>1</SP> of the tool is produced, as shown in Figs. 5, 6 and 7, whereas, with the pin in position to co-operate with the other cam face, the breast surface 7<SP>11</SP> may be ground. As shown, a drill is provided with surface 19 formed as a section of the envelope of a cone and a surface 16 formed as a spiral. The peak of the tool is offset from the axis thereof, producing cutting edges 15, 151.
