Floors; vehicles with removable bodies. - For transporting goods by rail and road without breaking bulk, boxes fitted with rollers are run on to a truck fitted with a second system of rollers at right angles to the rollers on the boxes. In the illustrated form a number of these boxes, each preferably forming the load for a single road vehicle, are positioned on a single railway truck. The long rollers c on the boxes serve to move the latter in one direction on the truck, while rollers b on the truck serve to move them in a direction at right angles to the former, thus enabling all the boxes to be positioned laterally and longitudinally on the truck. Hinged turn-up brackets f on the truck engage the box-shaped ends of sliding bolts g to lock the boxes in position. Sliding bolts lock the bolts g in the engaging position. The boxes are fitted with end doors and can be discharged, when desirable, at either side of the truck by first releasing the corresponding bolts g and brackets f and then opening latches to release the doors.
