Abstract

Photo-mechanical printing-surfaces.-To enable photographic copies to be made of any object with accurate reproduction of the gradations of tonevalues both as to light and shade two printing forms or layers are used, one being over exposed and the other under exposed, these two being complementary to each other in furnishing a print with all shades in their true values. Theprinciple is applicable for single or multi-colored light printing or for oil or bromide-oil reprinting with a plurality of forms. The forms for printing may be obtained from the same negative by printing with different durations. Where large contrasts between high lights and shades exist two negatives face to face may be exposed simultaneously separated by thin filter to get under and over exposed negatives. Diapositives from these may be used for printing an enlarged negative from which the printing forms for use are made by over and under printing. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 13103/84.
