Abstract

Magneto-electric machines. - The magnet or each of the magnets of a magneto-electric ma.- chine is formed in a single piece in the shape of an annular cylindrical segment and is positioned eccentrically with reference to the armature. The frame of the machine is of aluminium and is cast with the pole-pieces. It is formed with flat parts at the top and bottom to allow of the magnet being slipped thereon when in a position at right angles to the normal position. When turned into the normal position the magnet clamps the polepieces between its ends and is held in position between the cheeks 4, 5 on the frame, thereby dispensing with fixing screws. The distributor comprises a brush 18 connected to the high tension winding on the armature and adapted to bear on two segments 40, 41 with which engage brushes connected through conductors 20, 20<a> to the spark plugs. The brush 18 rotates with the armature and the contacts 40, 41 are rotated in the same direction as the armature, but at half the speed. The circuit-breaker comprises a single or double cam 9 connected to a ring 26 by screws 45 passing through elongated slots 46 in the machine frame. A spring 29 carried by the ring 26 serves to hold in position a metal cap 30 provided with an insulated terminal 31 connected to the central screw 48.
