Abstract

The cast-metal heat exchanger (1), which in particular serves as a central heating boiler and comprises a number of exchanger elements (2, 3, 4) arranged one behind another, through the cavities (5) of which heating medium flows and which have ribs (6) on the outside which are flowed around by the smoke gas, forms a one-piece casting which comprises all the exchanger elements and extends along the side walls and end walls extending over the entire length of the heat exchanger. For the method for manufacturing the heat exchanger, in which the exchanger elements are cast as a whole with side walls and end walls extending over the entire length of the heat exchanger, a casting mould is used, which has two end cores, a number of identical intermediate cores as well as cores which form the cavities for the heating medium circulation, which cores are all centred by core eyes engaging in fitting cavities and are arranged with their circumferential edges clamped in relation to one another. This heat exchanger has the advantages that the work which was previously necessary for the assembly of individual members is eliminated and that, by virtue of the one-piece design, no leaks occur. <IMAGE>
