Abstract
Novel oligomeric resins comprising acylates of divalent and/or trivalent metals, where each metal atom is bonded to a radical of a monobasic acid having at least 7 carbon atoms and the remaining valences or each of the remaining valences of the metal atom are satisfied by a bridge-forming radical of a dibasic carboxylic acid having at least 6 carbon atoms, which forms the connection to another metal atom. These resins are particularly suitable as coating agents, also when mixed with oligomeric metal oxide acylates. They are obtained by reacting a metal oxide acylate with a dibasic acid or by incorporating an acid of this type during the preparation of condensed oligomeric resinous metal acylates.
