Abstract
Printer with electrostatic transfer of printing ink onto a dielectric substrate which is to be printed on, having a printing cylinder (1) which contains the printing ink and a contact roller (6) with a dielectric surface layer and an earthed shaft (1) for pressing the substrate against an ink transfer region on the printing cylinder. In order to transfer electric charge to the point of contact between contact roller and substrate, at least one inductor device is provided with which an area of the surface layer of the contact roller can be electrostatically charged. In order to prevent charge losses due to scattering between the inductor device and the contact point between contact roller and substrate, electrically insulating cover elements (26, 27) which can be displaced along the inductor device are provided between the inductor device and the contact roller. In order to prevent charge flowing off from the surface layer via the metallic end sides of the contact roller to the earthed shaft, electrically insulating covers (28, 29) are provided at least at the peripheral parts of the end sides. <IMAGE>
