Abstract
154,221. Depoit, E. J. L. Nov. 25, 1919, [Convention date]. Kinematograph apparatus.---Comprises apparatus for taking and viewing micro-photographs on an ordinary kinematographic film. The individual photographs are arranged in rows transversely of the film, as shown in Fig. 2. The apparatus consists of a microscope having an eyepiece and an objective 3 between which is situated a reflector '4 arranged to deflect the optical axis through a right angle, so that photographs may be taken on the film, means being provided to swing the objective end of the microscope step-by-step to and fro across the film, about the axis of the eyepiece, the film being correspondingly bent by guides. The intermittent motion is effected by the rotation of the shaft 10, Fig. 5, on which is situated a series of semi-circular disks engaged by a projection on the casing of the objective and of the microscope. Springs 16, 17, Fig. 8, in conjunction with the bar 18, move the microscope across the film first in one direction and then in the opposite direction past each semicircular disk, arrangements being provided independently to move the film longitudinally at each end of the swing of the microscope. On the driving shaft 24, Fig. 10, is mounted a wheel 25 operating the shutter 27 through bevel gearing 28, and also the shaft 10 for the transverse motion of the objective 3. Reversal of the springs 16, 17 is produced by a lever 20 moved from the wheel 29 one revolution of which corresponds to a complete oscillation of the objective. This wheel 29 also actuates the pawls driving the sprocket wheel 12 for feeding the film longitudinally. In place of a movable objective a series of fixed objectives may be fitted.
